On April 26th, ULC Filed Suit against the Officers and Directors of the Minnesota South District in Hennepin County District Court.

Documents related to this suit, including the complaint that has been filed and a Paper by Pr. Kind on why ULC has taken this matter to court are available here.

Zoning Board Meeting - May 21

A public hearing regarding Doran's request for variances to the zoning for our lot is being held Monday the 21st at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall (350 South 5th St, Council Chambers, Room 317). At risk is not only our building, but community green space and many mature trees which will never be replaced. We had a handful of people attend last time, and they made a difference. It would be wonderful to have more folks who can stand up and speak to the issues of sacrficing this chapel and greenspace to another enourmous apartment building. Please try to attend if you are at all able to do so

Run for ULC - June 9th

Join us for Walker Methodist's 7th annual 5k/10k around Lake Harriet on Saturday June 9th, starting at 8 a.m. Runners have people sponsor them with pledges (so much per kilometer, so much to finish, etc) toward the Save ULC fund. To help with training, Kristen Weber is starting optional group runs of 2-3miles after the Divine Service & LSF Lunch starting in April for anyone who is interested. See Kristen for more information.

The Situation

University Lutheran Chapel is a vibrant and growing campus ministry congregation whose mission touches students, the U of M community, the Twin Cities, and the whole Church. The Minnesota South District District has entered into a contract with Doran Development LLC (a developer/construction company) to sell our Chapel for $3,500,000. The deal is to be closed by July 1st of 2012 at the latest. If this sale goes through, University Lutheran Chapel's ministry to students will be severely hampered, if not destroyed, and our LC-MS students will have nowhere near campus to go to Church. Please help us.
